Why Is It Hard To Say Thank You?

It's a fast pace world and for most of us, saying Thank You is just an everyday thing so we tend to neglect it.

Sa jeep, pag nakikipaabot ka ng pamasahe, ilan nga ba ang nagpapasalamat? I rarely encounter people who'd say thank you. Others are masungit pa when they make paabot their pamasahe, like it's everyone's obligation to do so. Dahil di mo naman kilala ang nag-abot ng pamasahe o sukli mo, be kind enough to say thank you. That's being polite.

At the bus or LRT  and someone was more than kind to give you a seat, say thank you. Yung iba naka-ismid pa pag pinaupo. Di na maganda, nakasimangot pa. Mas mabuti pang pinatayo na lang.

When you receive a gift from someone, no matter how big or small, say 'Thank You'. Hindi ikakabawas ng pagkatao mo ang magpasalamat. Matutuwa pa ang nagbigay because they'd know you appreciated their effort.

When you ask someone for a favor, be it from your parents or your siblings or your friend or colleague, always say Thank You. I have a boss who is a Thank You addict. You'll hear these great two words from him all the time. It feels great knowing he appreciates what we do.

I hope there's a Thank You button in Facebook so that whenever one greets you on your birthday, you can just hit it instead of the 'Like' button.

I grew up hearing my father saying Thank You all the time. Whenever he ask small favors from us (his kids), bringing him his shoes, or handing him a glass of water, or receiving a greeting card or simply showing him how we performed at school- he will always say thank you. I remember as a kid, as we both utter our night prayer, the first thing that comes in his mouth are words of Thank You, Lord.

ALWAYS SAY THANK YOU:

- pag sinuklian ka ng maayos ni manong driver o ni aling tindera ng yosi

- pag may nag-give way sa'yo o pinauna ka sa line sa LRT

- pag sinerve ng maayos ang order mo sa fast food/ resto

- pag hinintay ka ng tao sa loob ng elevator

- pag natapos na ang personal service na ginawa sa'yo- sa salon, spa, dental at medical clinic, etc.

- pag pinagluto, pinaglaba, pinagplantsa, pinaghugas ka ng pinggan ng nanay mo

- pag inabot ni tatay ang baon at pang tuition mo

- pag niregaluhan ka ni kuya o ate mo

- for the shelter and the food in your plate

- most importantly, you whisper words of gratitude to the One above for waking you up and giving you another day

Being grateful and saying thank you is like counting your blessings. I know we have a lot to be thankful for, so the more we should say thank you.
