Where To Stay in Puerto Princesa- Go Hotels Palawan

Puerto Princesa in Palawan is home to the world famous Underground River. It is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site and belongs to the New7Wonders of Nature. It is in every wanderlust's bucket list to visit this city to enjoy its great beaches, pristine islands and eco-tourist spots. If you're looking for an accommodation in this 'city in the forest' that will not bore a hole in your wallet, why not book in Go Hotels.

GO HOTELS PUERTO PRINCESA

Go Hotels pride themselves to be fresh, friendly and youthful. It is the Philippines largest chain in the budget hotel sector. Go Hotels is some 15-20 minute drive from the airport and a perfect base-camp when traveling to Puerto Princesa's scenic spots. This non-smoking hotel is a stone's throw away to Robinson's Place Mall Palawan.

THE ROOM

During my recent trip to Puerto Princesa, we stayed in Go Hotels. We had a deluxe room which was modern and chic. It was a decent-size one with two decadent beds. The cotton sheets were white and clean with chiropractic and high-quality non-allergenic pillows. The bed's mattress has just the right amount of firmness that I was looking for. After a tiring day of exploring the many picturesque spots in  Puerto Princesa, it was nice to sink into its warm and comforting aura.

Our room has no windows but is stocked with a satisfying set of amenities we need. There's a 32 inch cable LED TV for those late night binge-watching and a free Wi-Fi. Ours is also decked with overhead lights, a bedside table and lamp, a small office area and a full size mirror. Hair dryer and flat iron with board are available upon request. The private toilet and bath was immaculate with basic toiletries and clean towels. They only provide bath/ shampoo gels so best to bring other toiletries with you. The hot and cold shower comes in glass partition. Big plus that it is a rain shower. I always like to soak in a hot bath before going to bed.

As this is a budget hotel, don't expect a complimentary mini-bar and a free breakfast. As mentioned earlier, it is some steps away to Robinson's Mall and is the best place to go to if you're looking to fuel your tummy. You can refill your tumblers in the water dispensers.

WHAT TO DO IN PUERTO PRINCESA

Honda Bay Tour| Starfish Island

There are quite a number of outdoor adventure, historical sights and food and drinks that you will find enjoyable in Puerto Princesa. Have a full-day island hopping and snorkeling in Honda Bay- visit Cowrie Island, Starfish Island and Luli Island. Most of the time, this guided island-hopping tour comes with a buffet lunch already. Don't miss to go inside one of the longest navigable Underground River in the world. Glide past stalactites and stalagmites formation- it is a natural wonder that is sure to make your jaw drop in amazement.  If you plan on visiting by June, witness the Baragatan sa Palawan Festival.

at Jory's

Go on a city tour. Visit places like Plaza Cuartel, Cathedral, Crocodile Farm, Baker's Hill, Mitra's Ranch and Butterfly farm. If you're hankering for good food, stop by Kinabuch's , Ka Lui, Ka Inato, Jory's,  Ka Joel's and Cacaoyan Forest Park. And if you're feeling a little adventurous- do a 'Tamilok challenge'. A tamilok is a slimy, gray creature that lives among rotting mangroves. It is also called a woodworm, though it is not actually a worm. It literally worms its way to the wood, hence its nickname. Dip it in vinegar and swallow it whole. I did it twice and it wasn't bad at all!

SATISFYING STAY

I had a wonderful stay in GO HOTELS. We took the advantage of the downtown location to walk to dinner. The rooms were clean, very comfortable and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. It was a tricycle away to the airport and so rushing to check in on my flight back to Manila was a breeze.

Out of 5 stars, I give:
