Anilao, Batangas is just some 3 hour drive from the metro. We have been under a community lockdown for more than a year already leaving most of us tired and uninspired. So why not embark on an exciting trip and go to Anilao.
Anilao is famous for its amazing and incredible underwater sanctuary. It's one of the world's best diving sites. It is a masterpiece of nature which you can experience in so many ways.
TANAW SA ANILAO
While in Anilao, seek out Tanaw sa Anilao Native House Resort for an accommodation that will provide you with exclusivity. This private villa offers a very relaxing vibe for sunseekers and adventurers. The place offers picturesque views of both the mountainside (Mt. Gulugod Baboy) and seaside (Anilao).
This private AirBnB is complete with all the things every vacationer needs for a perfect getaway. At the ground floor of this private villa are the receiving and dining areas overlooking the scenic mountains and seas. A door opens to the kitchen complete with cooking stove, rice cooker, refrigerator and utensils. They even have a coffee maker.
At the second floor are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed. The second room has a double deck and a single bed that can fit 3-5 persons. Each room are with AC unit. Both floors have a full bath- each with a bath tub. Isn't it nice to soak our tired bodies on a warm bath in a tub after a tiring activity at the beach? Basic toiletries and towels are also provided.
WHAT TO DO and WHERE TO GO
Going to the beach is my idea of a perfect getaway. It is my way to recharge, unplug and soak under the sun. On this particular vacation, I mostly did beach bumming- staring at clouds like petals of a rose and gazing at the sea foams fade like a cloud in the horizon.
Here are other things that you can do when you're in Anilao:
1. Go diving or snorkeling. As I have mentioned earlier, Anilao is a world famous diving site. Mainit Point, one of the more popular dive sites there is just some stone throw away from the place. You can ask the staff of Tanaw sa Anilao to arrange this activity for you.
2. Go island hopping. Go on a side trip and arrange for a boat that will take you to Sombrero Island and/or Sepoc Beach. Back in the early 2000s, I had the chance to visit the Sombrero Island. I can still vividly remember how my eyes popped at its crystal clear waters when our boat reached the shore. I collected small red rocks and seashells then- not sure if they still allow it nowadays. There's an entrance fee that will be collected by the island care taker. Sepoc is known for its white-sand beach, mesmerizing turquoise waters and rich marine life.
3. Hike Mt. Gulugod Baboy. If you still have some time to spare, do some cardio and go on a hike at Mt. Gulugod Baboy. It is ideal for beginners with a 2/9 difficulty level. Upon reaching its peak, you'll have a magnificent 360 degree view of rolling hills and coastal waters.
We missed these opportunities during our visit to the villa because the 'Habagat' didn't permit us to. We practically 'chilled' over some bottles of beer, catching up and doing some fun games.
4. Food tripping. As you are already in Batangas, make sure you stop over for a hot bowl of Batangas Lomi, Bulalo and Sinaing na Tulingan. Just the thought of these makes me salivate already.
