5 Reasons Why You Should Watch Cirque Du Soleil's TORUK-The First Flight

Cirque du Soleil is returning to Manila with its latest offering TORUK- The First Flight. TORUK has traveled through Canada, US and Mexico and they are making their Asian debut in Manila. How awesome is that?!I had the privilege to be at the media launch and I'm so eager to watch the show.

Now here are the five reasons why you shouldn't miss to watch TORUK:

1. It is inspired by James Cameron's record- breaking movie AVATAR.

I mean, we all love Avatar, right? Those who have seen it would agree how amazing this film was. I'd lost superlatives to describe how good this film is.

Imagine seeing Pandora come alive-the spectacles, magic and all- everything unfolding on stage.

2. It is a Cirque du Soleil production.

*
If it's from Cirque du Soleil, expect it to be grand. And jaw-dropping.

TORUK- The First Flight is its 37th production since 1984. The company has brought wonder and delight to more than 155 million spectators in more than 300 cities on six continents.

Cirque du Soleil's expertise managed cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft accompanied by a cinematic score capturing the creative imagination and artistic vision of James Cameron.

3. Prepare for a live immersive experience.

I was privileged to have a glimpse of the the show's preparations and my eyes went full of amazement.

It was hard to imagine really, how one production can stage the fascinating world of the Na'vi- its world of rich colors and dazzling flora and fauna. Truly, Pandora was brought to life-it was visually stunning- and I am personally excited to have the chance to see and experience it myself.

I am eager to see the Woodsprites, the luminous flying jellyfish, the floating Mountains and all the creatures that's in Pandora. You bet I'm drooling here already! :)

4. There are PINOYS in the production!

Meet Rob Laqui and Michael Ocampo.

Rob Laqui, Puppeteer.

Rob is a Filipino-American born and raised in Minnesota. Besides being onstage, he has been an associate producer, assistant choreographer/ director , and puppet builder.

Michael Ocampo, Head Coach

Michael was born in Ontario, Canada, a Fil- Canadian who has been working with Cirque du Soleil since 1993. After his stint as a tumbler in Alegria and later at Saltimbanco, he pursued a coaching career at the headquarters of Cirque du Soleil in Montreal.

Rob has been enjoying all the food, especially adobo, here. They both have plans to tour other places here on their free time.

5. It is a show for all ages.

Jannie Mallet, publicist for TORUK- The First Flight said that TORUK is a one-of-a-kind show with breathtaking video projections, impressive acrobats, larger than life puppets, colorful costumes..There is something for everyone in the family.

If you haven't seen Avatar, the show is still for you. TORUK is like a prequel, projected 3,000 years before the events depicted in the film.( Of course, it will give you an idea if you have the seen the film.) And another fascinating thing about this production, is that it has a storyteller. :)
