Mamma Mia!!

I soooo love this musical..I've been wanting to see this film and had the chance to watch it yesterday..Man, I can't contain my happiness!!!I am oh-so-overwhelmed,the songs kept playing on my head until now!I've seen a lot of musicals and I can say this movie is one of the best!

Timeless songs such as Dancing Queen ( this song is an all time fave in every party and videoke sessions ), I Have a Dream, The Winner Takes It All and Take a Chance on Me have been used for a magnificent tale of love and friendship.

Mamma Mia stars Meryl Streep as Donna, the mother of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who is getting married to her boyfriend Sky (Dominic Cooper). However, Sophie feels that she is missing an important part of her life and so invites three men, one of whom she thinks is her father. Sam Carmichael (played by former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth) and Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard) arrive at Donna and Sophie's Greek island not knowing that one of them could have fathered Sophie during one summer adventure with Donna.. On the eve of her wedding, the quest to discover the identity of her father brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the Greek island paradise they last visited 20 years ago.

This light hearted movie really brightened up my day. Truly a fantastic film.Meryl Streep was very good in her acting and has proven her singing prowess. The cinematography was spectacular- great shots of the scenic Skopelos Island in Greece. Superb light and set design, magnificent display of colors and costumes. The choreography and the song renditions was tastefully executed. I've ran out of superlatives to describe the film!

I particularly liked the scene of Julie Walters and Christine Baranski singing Chiquitita to Meryl.

Other enjoyable moments, includes Walters’ heady version of “Take a Chance on Me,” Brosnan’s funny, quivery take on “S.O.S.” and of course, Streep’s impassioned rendition of “Mamma Mia.”

I was touched by Streep's singing of The Winner Take's It All which illustrated to Sam why she could never be with him. It's a great performance, strong and sure of voice. It's now my current fave and Im always teary eyed everytime I hear it!

the heartwarming The Winner Takes It All..

My other most-loved scene - and Streep again is at the center - is Dancing Queen, in which seemingly the entire town is enlisted as Donna went through the streets, singing. The whole lot winds up on a pier for the last chorus before jumping into the water. Having the time of her life, indeed. I was singing along with it,snapping my fingers and stomping feet. I wanna stand and dance with them!It is joyous,so infectious!

Here's a gallery of shots taken from the film..

I have always loved the songs of ABBA!When I was still a kid,I used to play its casette tape practically everyday and had memorized most of the songs. And so it is a delight to know that the songs most of us loved have crossed the borders of stage and the screen! The music of ABBA thrilled a generation plus and has endured long since. To ABBA, the geniuses behind these great hits, thank you for the music!

ABBA..thank you for the music!
