Kai Sotto Named Jr. NBA Ph 2016 MVP

Cheers and tears (of joy) filled the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia last Sunday as the names of this year's Jr. NBA/WNBA Ph have been revealed.

The 6'9 gentle giant Kai Zachary Sotto from St. Francis of Assissi School was hailed MVP. Joining him in the All- Stars Team are:
Julian Alfonso Jugo (Powercamp)
Fritz Felix Valencia (Cebu)
Harold Alarcon (Cebu)
Isiah Miguel Blanco (Powercamp)
Ric Ozner Gatuz (Baguio)
Andrei Philip Lechoncito (Manila)
Tracy Carl Dadang (Cebu)
Jearico Nunez (Manila)
Miguel Rey Luis Tan (Manila)

The girls who made it on the list of All Stars include:
Darliene Regasajo (Cebu)
Florence Jil Talas (Cebu)
Ma. Cecilia Quilenderino (Manila)
Rosie Amatong (Davao)
Aloha Marie Betanio (Davao)

50 boys and 24 girls made it through the National Training Camp. They came from the regional selection camps in Baguio, Davao, Cebu and Manila. Getting into the All- Star Team sure was tough and all their hard work, diligence and discipline were paid off when they entered the list.

For the other kids who did not make the cut, the values imparted and the lessons they learned during the clinics and camps will surely be a memory to remember.

Coach Jeff Cariaso was all out in supporting and mentoring the campers along with the best coaches in the land. Jr. NBA/ WNBA Head Coach Craig Brown was 101% hands on with the kids too. Two time NBA Champion Norris Cole of Miami Heat and WNBA Champion Taj McWilliams-Franklin also shared their expertise during the National Training Camp.

The All-Star Team will travel overseas for their NBA experience trip together with fellow Jr. NBA All- Stars from Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
