Obesity and under nourishment among children is prevalent in our country these days. According to the Food and Nutrition Research Institute’s 7th National Nutrition Survey in 2008, at least 16 million Filipinos aged 20 and above, and about 2 out of 10 children are overweight. Undernutrition also remains to be a public health concern affecting nearly 3 out 10 children. Kids don't have an active lifestyle too in the advent of technologies.
It is Alaska's commitment and advocacy to promote active lifestyle and to help provide proper nutrition. Every summer, they gather basketball, volleyball and football enthusiasts through its Power Camps. Engaging in sports does not only hone one's talent but it also teaches the values of discipline, determination, hard work and sportsmanship.
Alaska continues to encourage children to go out and play by participating in various Alaska sports programs like Alaska Power Camp.
