Daranak Falls

I wanted to make the most of the Holy Week break so I invited some of my friends to go swimming last Sunday. The original plan was to go to Hinulugang Taktak in Antipolo but the recent conditions of the falls made me change my mind.

Naghanap ako ng ibang pwedeng mapuntahan and Daranak Falls seems a good alternative. So my friends and I met at Starmall Shaw for a van ride to Daranak. Buti na lang walang traffic. We were at the Poblacion in an hour. We bought some stuff at the market then rode a tricycle to the falls. In 20 minutes, we were at the place already. Bongga!

After paying the P50 entrance fee, go na kami sa loob. I love falls because I find them magical so Im very excited to see the place. As it was holiday, I expected the area to be crowded.

We were lucky to find a cottage at a time when the area was jam packed. After eating breakfast, we went to the falls area. And..

Daranak Falls is a natural resort about 9 km from Tanay proper. It is 14m high and 30ft deep.

It was really crowded when we got there. I wanted to rent a 'salbabida' so I can enjoy the area where there are lesser people pero baka di ko naman masulit. Ahihihi. Nagkasya na lang kami sa panonood ng mga tao na nag-eenjoy sa tubig ng falls. I wish I know how to swim para pwede ako mag-dive dun sa malalim na part.

So lakad-lakad kami and we found an area which we made our sanctuary.

 Pwede ka mag-meditate. Ahihihi..

I really enjoyed the place. The sound of the gushing water was calming. It was cold and refreshing. Literal na 'chill' lang kami sa lugar- seated at the rocks and the water and making chikahan about anything under the sun. Phone signal was a scarcity so it was a time out from all our social media activities. Ang saya lang.

On our next visit, we plan to stay overnight at Batlag falls which is located on top of Daranak Falls. =)

How to go to Daranak Falls:

Ride a van at Starmall Shaw (Tanay bound), alight at Tanay Poblacion (dun din sya talaga hihinto). Fare is at P70/one way. From Poblacion, ride a trike to Daranak Falls ( fare costs P100- 200/ one way, depending on the number of passengers). Pakiusapan nyo ng sunduin kayo pauwi para sure na may masasakyan kayo pabalik. Fare going back is at P150++

Budget:

  • Transpo (Van)                         140 (round trip)
  • Trike (350 roundtrip/ 6)            58
  • Food                                         200/ pax
  • Entrance                                    50
  • Cottage (400/6)                         67
  • Total                                     P515

Daranak Falls is just 2 hours away from the metro. If you're looking for a getaway on a minimal budget, this is a place to go. Im sure you'll also have a great time like we all did.
